NBC planning 'Murder, She Wrote' reboot with Octavia Spencer
From Oscar winner to TV sleuth?
Deadline reports that Octavia Spencer is attached to a new reboot of "Murder, She Wrote" in the works at NBC. The hour-long project, which the Peacock has given a put pilot commitment, is described as a light, contemporary procedural in the vein of "Bones."
Spencer will star as a hospital administrator and amateur sleuth who self-published her first mystery novel. Set in a day where sensational headlines inundate the news, this woman's avid fascination with true crime leads her to become an active participant in the investigations. The project will be written by Alexandra Cunningham (who previously adapted "Prime Suspect" at NBC), with David Janollari executive producing.
